Bologna market, Ciro Immobile says goodbye and returns to'abroad

The adventure of Ciro Immobile at Bologna has closed after a few months and as few satisfactions. The 1990-born striker, who arrived in the summer to give weight and experience to the Rossoblù attack, has never been particularly convincing (also due to several physical problems, especially at the beginning of the season) and had so far accumulated just 227 minutes on the field between Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa, without ever scoring. A new transfer abroad is looming for Immobile: French media already have him on his way to Paris FC, the club “PSG”s neighbor”.

In recent weeks, Vincenzo Italiano had tried to use Immobile as an “impact player” in the endgame, giving him a few minutes after halftime against Inter and Napoli in the Super Cup, as well as in matches against Sassuolo, Atalanta, Como and Hellas Verona in the league. On the last Serie A day, however, he had started as a starter against Genoa, leaving the field at 73′ and finishing with a yellow card, received a few minutes earlier. His last goal in official matches remains the one he scored with the Besiktas jersey last May, against Adana Demirspor’Adana Demirspor in the Turkish league.

36 years old to be turned next Feb. 20, Ciro Immobile will thus begin his fourth experience abroad, after those in Germany with the Borussia Dortmund jersey (2014-2015 season), in Spain with Sevilla (from summer 2015 to January 2016) and in Turkey with Besiktas, a club he joined in July 2024 after the conclusion of his very long experience with Lazio. It was precisely the season with the Istanbul-based Bianconeri that was his best one from a scoring point of view outside the Italian borders, with 19 goals between league and cups.

Immobile will be the third Italian to join Paris FC, which also boasts in its roster the presence of central defender Diego Coppola, who arrived in the French capital on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, and right winger Luca Koleosho, an American-born Azzurri Under-21 national on loan from Burnley, who curiously has never played in Italy.

In Ligue 1 there are also two other Italian players: veteran Emerson Palmieri (29 appearances with the Azzurri between 2018 and 2023, champion of Europe in 2021), who plays for Olympique Marseille led by Roberto De Zerbi, and young ex-Roma goalkeeper Renato Marin, class of 2006, also Italo-Brazilian like Emerson and on loan from Luis Enrique’s PSG.
