Bayern Munich will most likely intervene in the market next summer to buy a new central defender.

Vincent Kompany needs more options and Kim Min-jae is looking around for a change of scenery. Sporting director Max Eberl has been working for some time to identify the right profile and seems to have chosen Luka Vušković.

The young defender, owned by Tottenham but on loan to Hamburg, is shining in this first part of the season and even in the last match just against Bayern Munich he did very well. Vincent Kompany has spoken nice words for him and now even legend Ivan Rakitic has opened up about Vušković’s future.

“All of European soccer is talking about him right now – said the former Barcelona star to Sky -Bayern Munich has to go one step further, I think it is the best option for the boy. It is incredibly nice to see such a young boy revolutionize the world of soccer in this way. He and his family are working very well and gradually, certainly this has helped him”.

“I hope this gives the Croatian national team an outstanding central defender in the next ten to fifteen years because he has everything it takes to become a top player, he just has to keep it up. We will see if Tottenham will be able to keep him, in my opinion he is already ready to make an extra step by going to the best four or five clubs in the world” concluded Ivan Rakitic, now technical director of Hajduk Split.

In the meantime, Bayern Munich appears to have finally reached a final agreement with Dayot Upamecano for a contract renewal: the French center back finally agreed to a contract until 2030 worth 20 million euros a year and signing bonus of 20 million euros. It was precisely the signing bonus wanted by the agents that was the main obstacle in the last stages of the negotiations, and it risked breaking it down just as it was being concluded.

Dayot Upamecano was in the sights of Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool and Real Madrid but will continue to play with Bayern Munich: the negotiation was long and complicated but in the end it produced the hoped-for effect.
