“At last”: Bayern Munich defender Jonathan Tah welcomed with relief the’agreement to renew Dayot Upamecano”s contract: “I told him 100 times a day to extend his contract. If he has now agreed, I am very, very happy because he is extremely important to us” are the words of the’former Bayer Leverkusen player in an interview with Sky.

Tah has only been in Bavaria for a few months but is already one of the defensive leaders of the team: “This group is special. Everyone brings something of his own. This is important because everyone can learn something from each other. We all want to improve, we want to grow. And then we also have a coach who also played in this role. So yes, it is a really good feeling to play here”.

Bayern has slowed down in the league in recent weeks, appearing more vulnerable than usual: “We have conceded a few more goals, more goals on action. Before, half of our conceded goals came from set pieces. We need to work on that, but we don’t seem to be going through a difficult period. Other teams are studying us and adapting, we have to do that too”.

Tah emphasized the crucial role of Vincent Kompany: “He makes a lot of corrections, and that lets you know what details he pays attention to. He pays attention to the smallest detail, sometimes it is impressive. From him I learned how important it is to communicate on the pitch and to manage the different moments of the game: when we have to defend deep, when it is the right time to come back forward”.

The team&#8220s ambitions: “I think anything is possible for us this season, everyone wants to win. It’s like that in every practice game too, we want to compete for big titles and be successful but we don”.

Tah responded to BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck: “I think it&#8217s great when there are teams in the league trying to be successful. I can&#8217t wait to play in Dortmund. It’s my first time with FC Bayern, so I&#8217m looking forward to playing there. It will be an intense, but good match”.
