In an official statement, FISI updated on the condition of Tommaso Giacomel, who was forced to retire in the 15 km mass start that closed the men’s biathlon program at Milan Cortina 2026. Already a silver medalist with the mixed relay, the biathlete was in the lead after the second shooting range and seemed well on his way to the medal race, but a little later he suddenly lost ground from the leading group, eventually stopping and raising the white flag due to a slight illness.
