The controversy after the 1-1 draw between Inter and Atalanta does not begin to subside: according to Inter fans, the referee should not have validated Nikola Krstović’s goal because of an earlier foul by Ibrahim Sulemana against Denzel Dumfries and, again according to the Biscione supporters’ point of view, a penalty for a foul by Giorgio Scalvini against Davide Frattesi was missing. In the last minutes of the match, the Atalanta defender, in an attempt to sweep a ball from the Bergamo area, hit the opponent&#8217s foot, but referee Gianluca Manganiello ruled Scalvini&#8217s intervention regular.

Journalist Enrico Varriale, a big Napoli fan, entrusted his thoughts to the social networks: “Atalanta equaliser that came back against Inter in the final highlighting the team&#8217s problems with Chivu expelled for protests. Krstovic’s goal, validated by Manganiello, is a borderline episode but the leading team has flat tires as seen in the derby and Milan can hope. Seen again and again the one on Frattesi is a penalty as many (too many) have been given in this league. It could be conceded but then the one on Di Lorenzo in Napoli-Inter, which Marotta complained about for the sake of soccer, is a rigorissimo…”.

Clearly, the tweet infuriated many Inter fans, who went wild in the comments section, sparking a huge debate. At the microphones of DAZN Andrea Stramaccioni expressed his opinion: “Scalvini tries to return the ball and clearly kicks Frattesi. This is clear penalty kick, there&#8217s nothing to discuss. Scalvini kicks Frattesi”s ankle instead of the ball”. Former Juventus player Emanuele Giaccherini is also of the same mind: “We have seen penalties given with much lighter contact than this, it was a penalty”.

Raffaele Palladino, on the other hand, wanted to avoid the subject in the postgame: “I have not seen the episodes and you know I never talk about referees, but they told me that there was no foul on Dumfries and that there was no penalty, I stick to that. It is a very difficult week for us, Bayern and Inter are two battleships. Today I saw a good response from the team, especially mental profile, from real men”.

“Today there&#8217s been great intensity, those who took over did very well, the bench is our strength. This is a great group that has been pushing for four months. I thank them, they always put heart and courage into it” concluded the Atalanta helmsman.
