The’former Juventus defender Mark Iuliano is causing social discussion for his statements in an interview with Stile TV, where he compared the famous episode that saw him starring together with the Fenomeno Ronaldo in 1998 to what happened in the last Inter-Juventus match in February between Pierre Kalulu and Alessandro Bastoni.

“My episode with Ronaldo is part of another story – said Iuliano – Maybe this episode cancels it out because of Alessandro Bastoni’s reaction after the simulation, which outraged a lot, because after deceiving the referee you also go to exult, against every value of a healthy and fair sport”, the clear words of the’former Bianconeri central, who condemned the Nerazzurri defender.

“Until that moment it had been a beautiful match and it was ruined – continued Iuliano -. The linesmen have become useless if they cannot even have their say, the referee is subject to VAR and we all demand that VAR becomes on-call and does not take over, and that the referee goes to review the actions and decides on his own”.

What happened in Inter-Juventus has triggered an endless series of negative comments in regards to Alessandro Bastoni
Criticism against the Inter's footballer and the national team has come from exponents of so many sectors…
"Race distorted by a well-known Nerazzurri stunt-man (any reference to Bastoni is purely intentional)": it was Ezio Greggio who said it.
"After that'episode I changed the channel and started watching a movie. It is not an acceptable stuff" cut short Adriano Panatta.
"He knew he simulated and he did that scene afterwards: it is the ugliest thing, even more dramatic" so Marco Tardelli.
"Such a scandalous thing I haven’t seen since April 26, 1998 Juve-Inter, the one of the penalty not whistled to Ronaldo" said Enrico Varriale.
"Bastoni did four things wrong, not sporting: the simulation, the caution call for Kalulu, the'jubilation after the ejection, and the gesture of the pulled jersey" argued Daniele Adani.
Johnson Righeira ironically suggested awarding him the title of “Sportsman of the Year 2026.”
"His a clear simulation – claims designator Rocchi -. The latest in a long series in a championship in which they try in every way to cheat us.”
"He made a bad impression" the thought of'former Milan player Massimo Ambrosini.
"Bastoni simulated, because that is the correct term to use" stresses former referee Luca Marelli.
"Bastoni not only simulates seriously, but what is seen, what is intolerable, tells how he mocks Kalulu" outrages Massimo Giletti.

"Simulation I have always hated it – lets know the'technical expert Gigi Cagni -. But not only me, all those my generation hated it".
"Bastoni should not be summoned to the national team" suggests the'former Premier Enrico Letta.
"Bastoni cheering when you know the referee made a mistake and your opponent is desperate is a shameful thing" the opinion of Sandro Sabatini, among others former Inter's press office chief.
"They all simulate, but what you can&#039t watch is Bastoni's jubilation after Kalulu's ejection" stresses Fabio Caressa.

“It must be the referee who takes responsibility and possibly changes his decisions, without four other people telling him what to do. In my time we were enough ‘men’not to think about simulating”.

The Bastoni case has returned to the headlines in recent days after the player was nominated for the Rosa Camuna award. This was reported by Regional Council President Federico Romani: “He&#8217s been nominated for the sporting value he has shown throughout his career, for the symbolic role he plays in Lombardy soccer and for the ability he has shown to face even the most difficult moments with seriousness and fairness”. Bastoni, Romani stressed, has been able to “publicly acknowledge his mistake, taking responsibility”.

The player was booed by fans during the last matches played by Inter’s Serie A team.
