Irving: "Cavaliers, special situation"

This offseason has been filled with illustrious signatures, changed scenarios and values on the court that may be completely overturned. In spite of this the certainties remain, namely that the Golden State Warriors on one side and the Cleveland Cavaliers on the other remain the favorites. Despite a tourbillion market movements, the strenuous quest to strengthen themselves in order to compete with the two finalists of the last three seasons, the two hares still remain with a good lead over the pretenders.
As usual, LeBron James did not fail to have his say on the incoming market of the Cavs, claiming that some reinforcements would be needed. David Griffin’s departure turned the nose up at King, who then continued on his usual GM crusade by complaining. The renewal of Kyle Korver, the signing of Jeff Green and Jose Calderon, along with the arrival of Cedi Osman, are not deemed enough to close the gap with the Warriors, assuming that in their salary situation it is ever possible to do so. The renewals of Tristan Thompson and JR Smith, in addition to obviously the salaries of the big three, do not allow a huge room for maneuver, and even the trade issue that would bring Carmelo Anthony to the shadow of the Q, does not seem to be of such easy feasibility.
Kyrie Irving instead demurs, realizing the peculiar situation in which his team finds itself: “Our situation at the moment is sui generis, because we are the finalists of the last three editions, always winning the East with great authority. We have to be aware of our status and start first of all in aligning all the people we already have at our disposal. Being on the same wavelength is the start to make more and better. If we look at all the crazy things done this offseason, I think the front office is going to move smartly and we have to be on their side.”
