The start of the NBA season is fast approaching and the last preseason games are being played. Only two were played overnight, with victories for Dallas and Clippers. The Texans dominated on Atlanta’s court (108-94) from the first period, despite leaving many top players (Nowitzki above all) to rest. Best on the court was Gian Clavell, a 23-year-old Puerto Rican out of Colorado State, who finished with 19 points (7/12 from the field), 5 rebounds and 5 assists, followed by Maximilian Kleber’s 16 points. Among the hosts, Marco Belinelli was left out, and Kent Bazemore’s 20 were not enough.

Nthere was no room even for the other Italian player, Danilo Gallinari, who was left to rest by coach Rivers in the Californians’ success over the Sacramento Kings (104-87), in a game that was resolved, however, only during the fourth quarter. There were 18 points for Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan’s double-double, with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Another Jordan, the far more famous Michael, on the other hand, had his say on the superteams: “We’re heading for a situation where two franchises are filled with talent-his words to Sports Illustrated-while the other 28 are to be thrown in the trash. We’re facing tough times ahead in resisting this new environment that is being created.” A nice pickaxe to the whole NBA world.
