Allianz Trieste, new additions to Marco Legovich’s staff
Presented the deputy of Marco Legovich
Allianz Pallacanestro Trieste announced that it has signed a one-year assistant coach contract with Massimo Maffezzoli, who will join coach Marco Legovich in managing the team that will face the upcoming Serie A championship.
Massimo Maffezzoli, originally from Verona, began his coaching career right in the youth sector of Scaligera and then continued his education in the nurseries of Pesaro and Trento. The transition to seniors came in Casalpusterlengo, where as assistant coach he won an LNP Italian Cup. In his palmares also an Italian Supercup, a Scudetto and two Italian Cups with Sassari, always dressing the role of assistant-coach. As an assistant he has touched important squares of the national basketball scene: Rome, Sassari, Brindisi and Avellino, where he also held the role of head-coach, up to Chieti, which he led in the last season. In the national team, he followed the Azzurri for three years, as assistant coach to Meo Sacchetti, until the qualifying tournament and then the 2019 World Cup. He brings to Trieste a deep statistical focus on the game combined with shrewd management of the players on the court.
After the announcement, the former Chieti coach expressed all his satisfaction with the new assignment: “I am very happy to officially join the new project of Pallacanestro Trieste. The desire to build something important starting from people was the decisive spring along with the enthusiasm shown by Marco in wanting me with him in this new adventure. I thank him, the President, the Board, the partners, and my attorney for making this new union possible. I can’t wait to get started!!!”
