Berrettini confirms disappointment with ATP decision

The decision not to consider the Wimbledon tournament useful for gaining (or losing) points in the ATP rankings continues to irritate Matteo Berrettini: last year’s finalist, in an interview with ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport,’ reiterated his disappointment, further elaborating on his position.

“I reiterate that I’m disappointed and that they should have warned us earlier,” the Roman climaxed. “I was also talking about it with the other players: Wimbledon remains Wimbledon, the prize money has even increased, but the ranking points are an important stimulus, especially for those who are behind in the rankings.

“It’s a situation we don’t have the power to change, though, so on my part I tried to reset quickly,” added Berrettini, who will try to improve on last year’s result and give himself a joy capable of going beyond points and rankings.
