The Wimbledon women’s tournament round of 16 has concluded, with the completion of the four matches scheduled for Monday.
Elena Rybakina, who defeated 7-5, 6-3 Petra Matic, was the first in chronological order to qualify. Also winning their respective matches were Ajla Tomljanovic (4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Cornet), Simona Halep (6-1, 6-2 to world No. 4 Paula Badosa) and Amanda Anisimova (6-2, 6-3 to French Tan).
In the quarters, Tomljanovic will face Rybakina while Halep will face Anisimova. Already qualified after Sunday’s matches Marketa Bouzkova, who will face Ons Jabeur, Tatjana Maria and Jule Niemeier, who will compete in a peculiar German derby, as it will pit two tennis players outside the world’s top 90 against each other.
