Tour de France, Wout van Aert takes revenge in yellow
Stage win also arrives for current yellow jersey
Always second in the three Danish stages that opened the Tour de France 2022, Wout van Aert takes his revenge in Calais, the finishing site of the fourth stage of the Grande Boucle (starting in Dunkirk, 171 1/2 kilometers long).
The Belgian of Jumbo-Visma arrived alone with his arms in the air at the finish line of a rather challenging stage to be in the first week, given the presence of six mountain grand prix. In second place was Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who ruled the main bunch finishing 8″ behind the stage winner. Closing out the day’s podium was Christophe Laporte, Wout van Aert’s teammate.
In the general classification, the Belgian now has a 25″ lead over Yves Lampaert (Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl), third at 32″ tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates).
