Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar does not forget and relaunches
The winner of the Longwy stage is ready to give an encore performance
After winning, on Thursday, the stage with a finish in Longwy, Tadej Pogacar says he is ready to grant an encore on a climb he remembers with great fondness: the Tour de France arrives on Friday at La Planche des Belles Filles, on whose ascending roads the Slovenian sealed his Grande Boucle victory in 2020.
Back then it was a time trial, today a road stage with an uphill finish: the goal, however, remains the same, to win. “At La Planche des Belles Filles I have beautiful memories, to which I hope to add more,” he told ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport.’ “This time, compared to two years ago, we will climb higher by about a kilometer, it’s the Super version. It will be very hard. To face it in the yellow jersey is a privilege.
On the need for possible changes in strategy given the yellow jersey on his shoulders, Pogacar went on to explain, “I take the race day by day, and there are a lot of strong rivals, not too far away in the standings. I think it’s still all to play for. For my part, I am calm. I always am when I feel I have good legs.”
