Tour loses another protagonist: ‘I pedal with one leg’
Ben O’Connor will not be at the start of stage 10
Ben O’Connor will not be at the start of stage 10 of the Tour de France. The victim of a crash in the second stage of the Grande Boucle, the Australian rider of the AG2R Citroen Team suffered a muscle injury of the right middle gluteus.
“I’m obviously upset,” O’ Connor said, “It’s the Tour de France, it’s the most important race of the year. It’s the race we all aim for, it’s the one we prepare for all year, and clearly we came here with big goals. I’m riding more or less with one leg, though. The acute pains I’m feeling, however, make it virtually impossible for me to continue the race.”
