Hellas Verona, a reinforcement arrives from Scotland
Reinforcement from Scotland for Cioffi
Gabriele Cioffi is ready to embrace a new reinforcement: the club’s official purchase of yellow-blue footballer Josh Doig.
“Hellas Verona FC announces that it has acquired from Hibernian FC, on a permanent basis until June 30, 2026, the rights to the sports performance of Scottish defender Josh Doig. Born in Edinburgh on May 18, 2002, Doig began his career in the youth academy of Hearts, a team from the Scottish capital where he remained until 2019, when he was acquired by another Edinburgh club, Hibernian FC. In January 2020, the defender moved on loan to Queen’s Park in Scottish League Two, where he collected his first professional appearances. Returning to Hibernian for the 2020/21 season, Doig carved out a starting spot in the first team, with which he totaled 24 appearances, 1 goal, and 4 assists in his first experience in the Premiership, Scotland’s top league. At the end of the season he was awarded the title of ‘Young Player of the Year,’ or best youngster of the season, by the national press. During the last season, the defender confirmed the performances of the previous year, collecting 43 total appearances between league matches, domestic cups and qualifying for the UEFA Conference League, a competition in which the debut in Europe also came for Doig. Hellas Verona FC extends a warm welcome to Josh Doig wishing him the best satisfactions, personal and team, in the Gialloblù jersey,” reads the note from the Verona club.
The young player will often be used as a deputy Lazovic on the left lane.
