F1, stolen dialogue between Charles Leclerc and Hamilton (and Verstappen will not appreciate)
A behind-the-scenes exchange of banter between pilots, bound to cause discussion.
Ferrari returned to winning ways with Charles Leclerc at the Austrian Grand Prix, after it was Carlos Sainz who took the win at Silverstone. And it was precisely the events in Britain that Leclerc himself and Lewis Hamilton dwelt on in the paddock at Spielberg. Words that had escaped the cameras so far, and which we can now hear precisely thanks to Ferrari.
Indeed, the Cavallino has an official channel on YouTube, where among other things it offers the ‘SF Full Access’ column, a long behind-the-scenes film on Formula 1 Grand Prix. And in the episode devoted precisely to the trip to Austria, Leclerc and Hamilton are seen confabulating away from the microphones. Their reflection is about the duel between the corners at Silverstone, but what will strike many are precisely the Mercedes driver’s remarks.
Hamilton, in fact, reasons about the duel he had with Leclerc at the very difficult Copse corner. In particular, he admits to his colleague, who had passed him on the outside, “I thought, gee, I don’t want to hit you and send you off the track.” A smile followed between the two.
Impossible, however, not to remember that the same corner, a year earlier, had been the site of an accident between Hamilton himself and Max Verstappen. It was the Dutchman who got the worst of it in that case, rammed by his opponent and finished at great speed against the barriers. An episode that effectively set off the great rivalry between Mercedes and Red Bull. And the world champion’s reflection on the Copse corner only brings back those memories.
