Marcell Jacobs challenged: his words worry fans
Marcell Jacobs challenged
Not without some difficulty Marcell Jacobs has qualified for the semifinals of the 100 meters at the World Championships in Eugene. His 10.04 was the 10th time in a round in which U.S. Fred Kerley (9.79, +0.1) and Trayvon Bromell (9.89, +0.6) shone.
At the end of the race, however, the Italian vented, “I knew I wasn’t 100 percent, I’m not great but I wanted to be here in any way I could. I didn’t mind the start and neither did the first part of the race. But at the moment when I usually bring out the best, the physical problem that accompanies me did not allow me to bring out my real race, to let go, to advance as I usually do.”
“I felt like another me. Limited. When I saw Seville go, I should have toughened up to try to get him back. But I realized I was in a good position to pass the round and I preferred to let it go. Now I’m going to spend the night in physical therapy to try to get back to my best. It will be hard, very hard, but I am here now and I will give it my all.” La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
