Turkey-Italy 0-3

The Italian flag flies high at the Sports Hall in Ankara. Italy beat the hosts Turkey 3-0 (25-18; 28-26; 25-22) to fly into the final of the VNL at the end of a perfect match that was framed by nearly 11 thousand spectators including the president of the Italian Volleyball Federation, Giuseppe Manfredi.

The reigning European champions, at their tenth consecutive victory in the VNL, set their own pace in the match and not at all intimidated by the Turkish bedlam, they completely knocked Giovanni Guidetti’s girls’ game out of gear. Awaiting the Azzurri in the final was Brazil, which had beaten Serbia 3-1 in the opening match of the day.

For Italy it will be the first ever final with the 8-team format and the third ever, again with Brazil, considering World Grand Prix and VNL. Appointment set for Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Italian time when Italy will try to get on the top step of the podium, a feat that has never succeeded to the Azzurri between World Grand Prix and VNL (already three finals played).
