Matteo Berrettini returns to the court with new goals
The words of Matteo Berrettini
Matteo Berrettini’s season starts again on clay in Gstaad, Switzerland, where he centered his first ATP tournament victory of 2018.
“It’s been four years but it feels like 25. I did not expect to start playing so well, to win singles and doubles titles. The place is exactly the same, but I am a totally different person. I’m not saying it’s better or worse, but I’ve matured.”
Inevitable to return to the subject of not participating in Wimbledon: “It was something crazy, my team tried to keep me quiet. I was hoping to negate myself before the match against Garin, but that was not the case. I then tried to put the bad thoughts behind me and focus on the rest of the season. After all, a summary of my career is “It’s all or nothing!”
Closing remarks on goals: “First of all I would like to do well in the two Masters1000s coming up this summer, for example, I have never played in Canada and never had a great result in Cincinnati. In the meantime I hope to play well already in the next tournaments, the season is still long. The ATP Finals in Turin is a goal I believe in.”
