Vingegaard gets his hands on the Tour de France
Vince Vingegaard
Jonas Vingegaard not only retained the yellow jersey at the end of the 18th stage of the Tour de France, the Lourdes-Hautacam (143.2 km), but also had the luxury of winning the stage by pulling away from Tadej Pogacar before sprinting across the finish line.
The Slovenian had been at it since the Col du Spandelles sprinting repeatedly to try to wear down the Jumbo-Visma rider’s resistance but there was nothing he could do.
Pogacar, who was more than a minute behind the leader on Thursday, now trails the Dane by three minutes.
