Sainz’s weekend gets off to a bad start
It promises to be a complicated weekend for Carlos Sainz.
In fact, the Ferrari driver, as informed by the FIA, will be penalized ten positions on the grid for replacing the ECU for the third time this season.
There is, however, a real risk of seeing the No. 55 start in last position: this will occur if, as anticipated, the Maranello team decides to replace the entire power unit, as was already seen on Charles Leclerc’s car at the Canadian Grand Prix, later won by Max Verstappen ahead of Sainz.
In the colors of the Maranello stable, the Spaniard took his first career pole position at Silverstone on July 2, 2022, and the next day he scored his first career victory in Formula 1 at the end of a race masterfully conducted in adverse weather conditions. With the success in Britain, Sainz became the second Spanish driver to win a GP in F1, after only Fernando Alonso.
