For the first time in Laver Cup history, the “Big Four” will join forces for Team Europe this September in London.

Indeed, Novak Djokovic announced Thursday his commitment to the 2022 event, with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray already confirmed to participate in the fifth edition of the competition.

“The Laver Cup is the only competition where you can have all the big rivals, the ‘Big Three,’ the ‘Big Four’ coming together on the same team,” Djokovic said at Wimbledon, where he won his 21st Grand Slam title earlier this month . “Of course, it’s a very different and exciting concept for us as players, but also for fans around the world.”

The Serb is ready for his second Laver Cup appearance and will seek his first victory in the competition. Djokovic was part of the winning Team Europe team in 2018, but lost two tie-break matches, one in singles and one in doubles, in his only matches. He partnered with Federer in doubles, but they fell to Kevin Anderson and Jack Sock from Team World.

Captain Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe has reigned supreme since the inauguration of the Laver Cup in 2017, lifting the trophy in all four previous editions of the event.

The Laver Cup 2022 will be held Sept. 23-25 at the O2 Arena. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz and Diego Schwartzman have pledged to represent Team World along with captain John McEnroe.
