Giovanni Simeone kicks off the toe waltz
The ‘Cholito’ is very close to a transfer to Luciano Spalletti’s court.
Metabolized by the non-arrival of Paulo Dybala – who has moved to Roma – and having already cashed in the goodbyes of two bigwigs like Lorenzo Insigne and Kalidou Koulibaly, Napoli is trying to strike a blow in the market also to appease the not-so-enthusiastic – to put it mildly – mood of the piazza. With the renewal of another pillar like Dries Mertens still in the balance, there is a need for an arrival on the offensive front. Negotiations with Hellas Verona for Giovanni Simeone’s landing in the shadow of Vesuvius are well underway. The newspaper ‘Il Mattino’ reports that an agreement has already been found between the player and the Azzurri club: the economic conditions between the two clubs remain to be agreed upon.
The now likely arrival of the ‘Cholito’ in Naples would free up the transfer of Andrea Petagna to Adriano Galliani’s wild Monza. The Brianza club could at that point give in to Como’s enticements for Leonardo Mancuso, who would be one too many in the crowded offensive department of the biancorossa club.
The first days of Serie A will see the incoming and outgoing soccer market still in the limelight although the matches have already begun: in August, in fact, as many as four rounds will be played, since the calendar has been largely conditioned by the World Cup to be staged in Qatar. And which, as we all know, will unfortunately not see the Italian national team at the start, having failed to qualify for the review for the second time in a row.
