F1, Ferrari: Mattia Binotto bluntly on Charles Leclerc
Ferrari team principal: “Let’s turn over a new leaf.”
Amid disappointment and awareness, Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto spoke to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’ about the bitter outcome for the Redhead, and in particular Charles Leclerc, of the French Grand Prix.
“Charles is a champion, no one in the team will ever question him, we have total confidence in him. There are ten races to win, we will try to win them all,” he said, bluntly. “The points we lost (Leclerc’s harsh statements on the subject here)? We have to think about the ones we have to gain.”
“Even today we showed that the car and the team are of the highest level,” Binotto added, “and on tire degradation we were better than Red Bull. Everything was going in the right direction, the car is sufficiently competitive and Sainz also proved it. There are the prerequisites to believe in a one-two in Hungary but we need to turn the page now.”
Finally, more on Leclerc: “There was the mistake of a driver who needs to regain confidence and we have to give it back to him. Already in the analysis with the engineers Charles has tried to face everything with a smile: it is important, it shows that he is a champion and that he wants a rematch already from Hungary.”
