“I have no words, for me it was like riding a roller coaster.” This is Lorenzo Musetti’s first thought after his final success at the Hamburg ATP, achieved after beating Carlos Alcaraz in the last act.

To the microphones of the tournament organizers, Musetti entrusted the explanation of the course of the match: “I had so many match points before closing the match, but Carlos was good at saving them,” he said. “But I think the key to everything was my ability to remain calm and patient: it was not easy, because Carlos always managed to stay afloat during delicate moments for him.

“It was not easy to find the energy to respond,” added the Carraraz tennis player. “I was definitely angry, but I tried not to show my emotional reactions to Alcaraz and not to blame myself for the missed opportunities to close the match. I did not expect the victory after all these emotions, I am happy to be here and to be the champion in Hamburg.”
