A real battle in Gstaad, but besides sorrow there is pride.

Matteo Berrettini loses to Casper Ruud, who was able to put him back on top in the final of the Atp 250 tournament in Gstaad and win with a score of 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2. The Roman fell over the distance, and at the end of the match he admitted that it was precisely his physical condition that proved decisive.

“Today was really tough,” Berrettini confesses in fact, “Already at the beginning of the week I had to fight a bit with my body. However, I am happy with what I was able to do here. But sincere compliments go to Casper, who is really going very strong. I am sorry for today’s result, but I want to thank the public for the support they gave me today.”

“Gstaad’s is one of the best 250 tournaments on the ATP circuit. Also for that I really want to say thank you to everyone. Too bad also for the doubles, I would have liked to play here with my brother Jacopo. Because of his injury, however, we could not. There will definitely be an opportunity next year,” concluded the Roman tennis player.
