Tadej Pogacar bites the bullet
The Tour de France 2022 has concluded, an edition of the French race that saw defending champion Tadej Pogacar obtain, struggling without any qualms, second place behind winner Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma), with Geraint Thomas (Ineos-Grenadiers) completing the podium.
Pogacar is already thirsting for revenge: “Overall it was a great Tour de France for us. I think, especially for cycling fans, this year’s was an exciting edition. Jonas deserved the victory, he proved that he is the strongest rider, and all this gives me even more motivation to come back even more competitive next year.”
For UAE Team Emirates, it was a Tour full of obstacles: Vegard Stake Laengen and George Bennett had to leave the race as they were infected with Covid-19, Marc Soler finished out of maximum time on a day during which he struggled with stomach problems, and Rafal Majka suffered a leg muscle injury.
