Jannik Sinner puts three in the crosshairs
Jannik Sinner, like Matteo Berrettini for that matter, has played fewer tournaments than most of his rivals ahead of him in the Race: eleven events that the South Tyrolean calculates, three of which ended in retirement (Roland Garros and the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000).
Sinner is 16th in the Race this week, with 1,430 points, 935 less than Auger-Aliassime.
The Italian is busy in Umag, with a chance to overtake Diego Schwartzman, Cameron Norrie and Marin Cilic ahead of him in the Race: by reaching the final, he would be 13th in the Race to Turin next week.
American cement is a surface Sinner prefers, as evidenced by his success last year in the ATP 500 in Washington. Like Berrettini, the South Tyrolean will have repeated chances to pick up points, and for him, too, there will be the two “wild cards” in Florence and Naples that could prove decisive.
