Jannik Sinner, admission from Umag: “I’ve been a little tense.”
A victory, during which, however, there was no shortage of tense moments.
Jannik Sinner beat Jaume Munar 6-4, 6-4, entering the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Umag for the first time in his career. At the end of the match, however, he admitted that he struggled.
“I’m happy, because in the end it was a tough match,” said Sinner. “Glad to have advanced to the next round. Did the loss to Djokovic at Wimbledon affect tonight’s performance? It’s never easy to get back into the game when you go so long without a match. Both at the beginning and the end I was a little tense, but there has been progress. I think I can play better now.”
Sinner then talked about how much has changed since he first showed up to play in Umag three years ago. “I’ve gained a lot of experience over the last few years because of all the matches I’ve played in between. In every match I try to understand so many things, I do it every time I take the court. And I hope I can always show these improvements,” he concluded.
