Carlos Sainz tries to console Charles Leclerc
Carlos Sainz tries to brace himself and console Charles Leclerc, who suffered a major blow in France by seeing his own gap to Max Verstappen expand to 63 points. “The battle is intense and I think it will last until the end of the season: you can’t give up,” says the Ferrari driver from Hungary.
“There are so many races to go and anything can happen,” the Spaniard then observes. “This year we have been competitive everywhere, I arrived at the circuit always thinking I could win and that was the case this time as well. We all aspire to have trouble-free weekends, we have a competitive car but also weaknesses to deal with in terms of reliability.”
Closing on Sebastian Vettel’s farewell to F1: “Everyone loves him in the paddock and that says a lot about his value as a man and not just as a driver. He is a positive role model for the sport and for all young people.”
