Novak Djokovic has no intention of giving up
The Serb is fresh off his triumph at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic does not want to give up. His goal is to participate in the upcoming Us Open, despite the fact that people not vaccinated against Covid are currently barred from entering the United States.
The Serbian tennis player, fresh off his success at Wimbledon, is nonetheless preparing for the next Slam: “I just wanted to take a moment to tell you all how grateful I am to see so many messages of support and love from all over the world these days,” he said in a post on Instagram. I didn’t expect it and that’s why it feels so amazing.”
“I just wanted to say thank you,” Djokovic added, “I am preparing as if I can compete while I wait to hear if there is room for me to travel to the United States. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.”
He is the only tennis player in the Open era, along with Australia’s Rod Laver, to have won four Grand Slam titles in a row, although not during the same calendar year. The Serb is, moreover, the tennis player who has finished the season the most times (7) as number one in the ATP ranking, as well as holding the all-time record for weeks (373) spent at the top of that ranking.
