Fognini-Bolelli, almost miraculous victory in Umag

Fognini and Bolelli won the Atp 250 tournament.

While waiting for Jannik Sinner, Italy is already rejoicing in Umag thanks to the doubles tournament victory of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini, who won their second doubles title of the season at the “Plava Laguna Croatia Open.”

The two Italians beat the British-Finnish duo of Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara 5-7, 7-6(6), 10-7 in the final. It was an almost miraculous feat for Bolelli and Fognini, who managed to nullify as many as seven opponent match points in the second set and then won the supertiebreak.

“After two months since our last match together, it’s nice to play another final with you. Thank you for making me experience good feelings. And now Hamburg!”, Fognini’s comment on Instagram.
