There is no peace for Alex Zanardi: on Tuesday, in fact, a fire broke out in the villa in Noventa Padovana where, with the support and closeness of his family, the former racing driver and multiple Paralympic champion is continuing his rehabilitation after his handbike accident two years ago in Pienza.

According to a report in ‘Il Mattino di Padova,’ the fire reportedly started from a malfunction of the photovoltaic system. Immediate action was taken by the local fire brigade, which tamed the flames in a short time.

Despite the extinguishing of the fire, there are fears for the tightness of the machinery thanks to which Zanardi is continuing his rehabilitation: in this sense, the hypothesis of a transfer of the Bolognese champion to another facility is not excluded. Any decision, however, is subject to a careful assessment of the damage caused by the fire.
