F1, Ferrari: Mattia Binotto doesn’t mince words.
Fourth and sixth place in Hungary
Ferrari once again entered the eye of the storm after what happened in the last GP before the summer break in Hungary. A one-two on paper turned into a fourth place for Carlos Sainz and even a sixth for Charles Leclerc.
The strategy of the pit wall was understood very little and Mattia Binotto in an interview with Channel4 spoke about what happened: “Expectations are always very high. When we make mistakes, the judgments against us are very hard, there are always a lot of discussions – so the team principal. We brought a great car to the track in the first part of the season, we also made some right decisions. Sometimes we make correct choices, sometimes we complicate our lives, but that’s part of racing.”
Still, Binotto considers the first part of the season positive: “No doubt I am frustrated, although maybe I don’t show it too much, but I assure you that I am frustrated because I know very well what the potential of the car is. Maybe in Hungary was the only time this year that the car did not have a great pace,” he added. “We have to improve, understand what went wrong and make sure it does not happen again.
