Charles Leclerc, message to Binotto: “I understand it, but…”
Charles Leclerc’s words
Time for mid-season reviews for Charles Leclerc, who tries to turn the page after the Hungarian disaster. “I’m not one to make excuses: I admit mistakes, and I learn from there. Mistakes are part of the journey, we have to analyze them and improve,” he added.
“When you start the season, it’s natural to set goals. But as a driver, you have to be obviously optimistic. I understand Binotto, who has to be realistic and rational when he talks, but of my own I have personal goals. And in all the F1 seasons I have completed, I assure you they have not always been realistic, but that is my way of approaching things. In 2020 or 2021, even if the car was not at this level, I always thought I could win races and I did everything to achieve that goal. Winning is what motivates me from morning to night. But I clearly understand Mattia’s goals,” added the Monegasque.
“Ferrari is incredible, it’s a dream come true for me. I was born in Monaco, where F1 is very important, and when I saw the races, I used to follow the red cars, even before I knew their name was Scuderia Ferrari. I don’t know why. All my years in karting I then spent in Italy, and there everyone talks about Ferrari. Being part of the team has always been a dream for me. I have then always had a special bond with the Italians, because racing since I was a kid there has brought me to know them very well. In Ferrari there is something special and I feel very close to the team and I love having this kind of connection with them,” Leclerc concluded.
