European Swimming Championships

The sky is increasingly blue. Light blue to be exact, like the strokes of our boys who continue to give us and give themselves emotions and medals every day more and more. In the sixth and penultimate session of the European Championships in Rome, they won six more that in the medal table project us to 26 (10-9-7).

Nicolò Martinenghi does an individual double by winning the 50 breaststroke four days after his success in the 100, Margherita Panziera gives herself a dream and does an encore in the backstroke: after the 200 (Aug. 12) she also wins the 100. Gregorio Paltrinieri is classy and outclass silver in the 1500 freestyle, won by Ukrainian Mykhaylo Romanchuk with whom he has long trained at the Ostia Federal Center. Alberto “Rocket” Razzetti took bronze in the 200 butterfly (he won the 400 medley on August 11), Sara Franceschi hit her goal and climbed the third step of the podium in the 200 medley. At the close of the evening Stefano Di Cola, Matteo Ciampi, Alice Mizzau and Antonietta Cesarano put the icing on the cake with a splendid third place, behind Great Britain and France.

Completing the day were an Italian record, two personal bests and eight passes for the finals on August 17.
