Yeman Crippa bronze

An evening of strong emotions for Italian athletics.

The Azzurri celebrate the second medal of the expedition at the European Championships in Munich thanks to a fabulous Yeman Crippa and his bronze medal with a time of 13:24.83, preceded in a thrilling three-way fight in the last lap by Norwegian world champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen (13:21.13) and Spaniard Mohamed Katir (13:22.98). For the Trentino member of the Fiamme Oro it is the second European medal on the track after the bronze he won four years ago in Berlin in the 10,000 meters, a specialty he will face on Sunday on the final day of the European Championships to look for another podium finish.

Italy can also toast to the Italian record of a fantastic Dario Dester in the decathlon: after a good twenty-six years, the national record set by Beniamino Poserina in Formia in 1996 (8169 points) falls under the blows of the 22-year-old from Cremona of the Carabinieri, who was able to score 8218 points with personal bests in all throwing events (weight 14.56, discus 43.04, javelin 57.24) and with an extraordinary display of maturity. Olympic champion Gianmarco Tamberi qualified for the high jump final together with Marco Fassinotti with a measurement of 2.21.
