The Tokyo Olympics triumphant has officially returned king of the 100 meters in Munich.
Still struggling with some physical problems after those that cost him a forfeit at the World Championships, Jacobs won in 9”95, while the other Italian who made it to the final, Chituru Ali, finished eighth. Britain’s Hughes (9″99) and Azu (10″13″) silver and bronze.
Jacobs became the third man in history capable of European 100 gold after Olympic gold after Armin Hary (Stockholm 1958 and Rome 1960), Valeriy Borzov (Munich 1972-Rome 1974) and Linford Christie (Barcelona 1992-Helsinki 1994).
