The decisive stage of preparation is about to come into full swing

Italian alpine skiing is ready to start again from its two main protagonists, Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone. The two teammates-rivals, together with Marta Bassino, will in fact be the first to fly to Argentina, more precisely to the snows of Ushuaia, to begin on August 19 the decisive phase of preparation for the next competitive season.

To the channels of the Italian Winter Sports Federation, technical director Gianluca Rulfi spoke precisely about the ambitions of the Italian champions, without hiding: “The basic concept is that in order to compete for the overall Cup ranking, one must be competitive in at least two and a half disciplines,” he said. “Goggia missed last year in the giant slalom, which is why she is giving great attention in these months. She needs to have further calm and continuity of performance, starting to think about targeted goals such as the downhill and super-giant classifications, she will do the math at the end of February.”

“Brignone,” added the technical director of the Italian team, “must become a killer in giant and super-giant, raising the bar even further. Always being there in the top positions and taking advantage of every little chance, then it would mean that she has made the ultimate step.”
