Antonio Giovinazzi returns to F1 driving: Ferrari’s decision
Opportunities to be taken advantage of for Giovinazzi, who will drive in two free practice sessions in Monza and Austin
Antonio Giovinazzi is returning to Formula 1 driving: the driver from Puglia will be on track for two free practice sessions at the wheel of the Haas at the Monza and Austin weekends. This is an opportunity to be taken advantage of for the Italian driver, who is currently Ferrari’s reserve driver. The former Alfa Romeo, who raced this year in Formula E with the Dragon Penske Racing team, will try to showcase himself in Ferrari’s client stable.
“We are happy to welcome Antonio Giovinazzi back to the team for the two FP1 outings,” are the words of team principal Gunther Steiner. “Ferrari wanted to give Antonio the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car with current specifications on a race weekend, and we are happy to grant it.”
Thus Giovinazzi: “I am happy to have the opportunity to drive again in the official F1 sessions. In addition to simulator driving, it’s important to test a real car and I’m looking forward to putting my suit and helmet back on. It will be an opportunity to get familiar with the new generation cars, it’s the best way to be ready if I am called as a reserve driver.”
