F1 Mercedes, Toto Wolff anger: “For 10 years…”
Silver Arrows team principal Toto Wolff commented on Hamilton and Russell’s disappointing qualifying session
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff commented to Sky microphones on the disappointing qualifying sessions of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who finished with the seventh and eighth fastest times, respectively, although thanks to Verstappen, Leclerc and Ocon’s penalties they will start three positions ahead on Sunday in the race at Spa.
“You can’t be in pole position three weeks ago in very difficult conditions and take 1.8 seconds as happened today,” thundered Toto Wolff. “Apparently there is something wrong but we are absolutely not figuring out how to come to terms with it. Clearly Red Bull is on another planet than we are, we’re a little bit closer to Ferrari, but it’s still an eight-tenths gap. It’s certainly not a consolation. I think it’s the worst qualifying in the championship, in fact maybe in the last 10 years.”
