After the official confirmation of his forfeit to Eurobasket 2022 – a competition that will also take place on the Assago Forum’s parquet – Danilo Gallinari has come out of the closet. Entrusting to his Instagram profile his first words after the meniscus injury he suffered during the match with Georgia.

“It hurts tremendously. Not so much the knee that gave way yesterday in a match won still in character. That will take time – fortunately less than expected – to get back to the way it was. It bloody hurts to give up this blue dream. We wanted to give ourselves magical nights. In my house. In our home. Today unfortunately was a rude awakening. At the clinic in Milan where I was accompanied by Prof. Cortina and all the Azzurro medical staff, the results of the clinical tests arrived: meniscus injury. I have to give up EuroBasket. Just in a summer that seemed perfect. You have to accept fate and look forward. I will be by this group’s side in every competition, to give joy to thousands of Italians again this summer.
