Jannik Sinner, the knockout statistic: like him only Nadal and Alcaraz

A difficult year, but the numbers are still screaming.

Jannik Sinner, reeling from physical problems and even a few disappointments (starting with Montreal and Cincinnati), continues to advance at the U.S. Open, where he is expected to challenge Brandon Nakashima in the third round. And it is precisely this detail that puts him on par with only two of his peers: outfielders Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

In fact, the South Tyrolean is one of only three international tennis stars to have reached at least the third round in every Slam played this year. That’s a respectable statistic for Jannik Sinner, especially since it comes in a year when disappointments were not lacking for him.

Sinner, along with Nadal and Alcaraz, boast a better roster than such heavy hitters as Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
