Controversy reignites between the two cyclists (and between their respective teams)

The controversy between Primoz Roglic and Fred Wright, and between their respective teams (Jumbo-Visma and Bahrain-Victorious) is reignited despite the fact that more than 72 hours have passed since the incident in the finale of Tuesday’s stage at the Vuelta that involved both cyclists and resulted in the injury that caused the Slovenian to withdraw from the race.

Through Jumbo-Visma channels, Roglic in fact pulled Wright directly into the matter: “It’s not good at all,” he choiseled, “Things like that shouldn’t happen. People then pretend nothing happened, as if nothing happened, but I don’t feel that way at all. This is not the way the sport should go, and I want to say it loud and clear.”

Closely following in a statement released by Bahrain-Victorious was Wright’s retort: “I honestly don’t think these are correct statements, because the replays show that it was a race incident. I understand, however, that Primoz was fighting for the red jersey. I had also, of course, sent him a private message to find out if he was okay.”

Both teams in turn supported their respective riders in the two releases, hoping, however, for a quick closure of the controversy and also a quick recovery as far as Roglic is concerned.
