F1, Italian GP: Alex Albon forced to forfeit
Appendicitis stops Albon, Nyck de Vries in his place
Alex Albon will not be able to participate in Saturday’s sessions and Sunday’s race in Monza: the Williams driver has been diagnosed with appendicitis, and the medical treatment he underwent just Saturday will prevent him from being on track for the Italian Grand Prix. In his place, the British stable has chosen Nyck de Vries.
In an official note, Williams confirmed that Albon had not been feeling well on Saturday morning and had contacted FIA medical staff and the local hospital. “For this reason,” the British team’s note continued, “we confirm that the team’s reserve driver, Nyck de Vries, will drive in Albon’s place for the remainder of the Italian Grand Prix weekend.
“Alex is in good spirits, however, and the team wishes him a speedy recovery,” Williams Racing concluded.
