Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz’s coach doesn’t mince words
Ferrero put it this way after the match between Sinner and Alcaraz at the Us Open: “In the next 10 years, he and Carlos will be the players who can dominate the circuit.”
Carlos Alcaraz’s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, in an interview with El Larguero expressed himself in clear terms after the Us Open match his student won against Jannik Sinner at the end of a five-hour match.
“I’m not surprised by Alcaraz’s level, I know the level he has and how far he can go. No surprise, but the match against Sinner was of an extraordinary standard. They touched a level that hasn’t been seen on the court for a long time. It was a very good match to watch. Jannik is a very strong player, I think in the next 10 years he and Carlos will be the players who can dominate the circuit. It will be a very healthy and beautiful rivalry.”
Alcaraz has now reached the final of the Us Open, and could become world No. 1: “Mentally he is ready to win a Slam and be No. 1 as well, but you have to keep working hard so that nothing distracts him and he doesn’t get a big head, keeping his humility. The first step is to win a Slam. From there, the belief that he can look higher and higher. There are many players who can win Grand Slams, Carlos is one of them.”
