Some were surprised, among insiders, at Mauro Icardi’s choice to go to Galatasaray after wearing the PSG jersey. But it was the Argentine striker himself, with some statements released to the Turkish club’s channels, who explained the reasons for his decision.

“I was very impressed that the fans welcomed me with so much love,” he began. “This summer I received so many offers but I had no doubts about Galatasaray after talking to Erden Timur (one of the Turkish club’s managers). He was the one who convinced me, he did everything possible for me to come here and I am really happy.”

Then a promise to the fans: “I scored a goal in this stadium with the PSG jersey, but now I will defend the colors of Galatasaray-I want to keep scoring lots of goals.”
