Third career Slam for the 21-year-old Polish woman
Iga Swiatek did not disappoint expectations and took home the trophy at the 2022 edition of the US Open. The 21-year-old from Poland ruled Ons Jabeur in the final, winning in two sets (6-2, 7-6). For the world No. 1 this is the third career Slam title (she had already won, last June, the US Open).
But there is more. Iga Swiatek, with her victory at the US Open, has now reached seven titles on the season. A real record. To find such a streak again, one has to go back to 2014, when a certain Serena Williams succeeded. Overjoyed Iga Swiatek, very saddened Ons Jabeur who loses her second career Slam final (she dreams of becoming the first African player to win a Grand Slam tournament).
