Jacques Villeneuve harsh on Monza: “The Italian Grand Prix was terrible.”
Villeneuve disappointed with Italian Grand Prix
On the Dutch portal formule1.nl, Jacques Villeneuve commented, “The Italian Grand Prix was a terrible race. I think it is especially sad for the tens of thousands of people who bought very expensive tickets. They didn’t see any spectacle that was worth the price of the ticket.”
On the performance of the race he wrote, “This race failed to captivate. There was no strategic battle, it was an emotionless Grand Prix, especially if you compare it with everything else we have seen this year. We expected more excitement but we didn’t get it.”
The former world champion also added to the criticism of the race direction: “A race should never, ever end behind the safety car. A lot of other things could have been done: a red flag, letting those who were behind pass first…. There was enough time, they could have done two more laps.”
Finally, a thought on the World Championship: “With this position, Max Verstappen can win the title already in Singapore.”
