US Open: Alcaraz to dream: wins the trophy and is the new No. 1
At 19, he is the new king of world tennis
Mission accomplished. Carlos Alcaraz managed to win his first Grand Slam title, beating, in the US Open final, Casper Ruud. The 19-year-old Spaniard won in four sets (6-4, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 the match’s partials).
Thanks to this title, Carlos Alcaraz also conquers the first position in the ATP ranking (he is the youngest ever to become No. 1 in the world). In addition, the Spaniard is also the youngest winner of a Slam since Rafael Nadal (Roland Garros 2005).
Casper Ruud chews bitterly. The 23-year-old Norwegian, also on course to become World No. 1, lost his second final of a Grand Slam event (he had lost earlier this year at Roland Garros, beaten by Rafael Nadal).
